I don’t see us winning at UMASS. But I do think we’ll beat Akron.

Hardest year to predict what will happen given all the following questions....
1. QB...we will be instantly better than last years QB situation. Honestly we had 3 Quartebacks who could not throw or be trusted to lead a drive. Viotto, Snyder and Jace are ALL better than those 3. the question is...who comes out of this mix.

2. O-Line. This is tough as I really hope Mayo, Roman, Rewolinski can step up. Serious holes left with departures.

3. RB. not sure about what we really have as Evans and Jaylon were our studs and are gone.

If I had to make a prediction I would say 7-5

Hey SD and 4840, don't suffer too much angst from the uncertainty about our team this year. The portal has changed the world as we previously knew it. We were the OSU of the MAC last year, a decent team without a league competent QB. Now, it looks like OSU, we may have an embarrassment of riches at the position, at least until next year. I suppose you worry about 2026 when 2025 is done.

I'm just encouraged by the fact that Coach has been aggressive in adapting to the "new" world. Saban, Hafley, Chip Kelly, etc... waived the white flag. Creighton, to his credit with his long contract did not.

Jerry, you are right. I am happy that CC was as aggressive as he was. For the most part, the portal has been good to us. Sure there are a few guys I would live to have back (Lassiter at BYU and Jaylon Jackson leaving in recent memory) but for the most part the guys that leave us tend to transfer down. CC has a knack for selling EMU as a place to play and make a name for yourself if you aren't getting what you wanted at your P5 situation (think Chase Kline and Joe Sparacio and perhaps Viotto)

I just wonder given the magnitude of fresh faces if he realized that in year 10, he has to make a move and no longer is pleased with 6-6 ball. I hope that's the case. It took a few guys on this board a long time to raise the expectations given all the bad history. Relating this back to the thread subject, this will be an EXTREMELY important spring camp and game to try and figure out who might be the relied upon guys moving forward. I get it's early but we have a lot of holes to fill.

As we can see lots of moving parts and the dust needs to settle a bit. As we have seen in men's hoops team chemistry is important.

Creighton has done the miraculous job of turning EMU into an annual bowl team after taking over the worst job in the FBS. His numbers don’t pop (52-68 overall, 31-47 in MAC play), but they’re much better after taking out his first two seasons. He has won everywhere he’s been as a head coach, tying EMU’s school record for wins (nine) in 2022.

The Athletic knows what they are talking about, he has done a great job. He took an almost certain dead-end job and has done wonders with it. Unfortunately for him, sportswriters know what he has done, P5 boosters only see his record, therefore EMU is his dead-end.

That said, Jim Harkema assumed the same job and honestly did much better, he actually won TEN games one season, contrary to the Athletic report as well as a MAC Championship. Jim, however, burned out. Barry Alvarez beat him out for Wisconsin and Jim decided to resign. Harkema did NOT have a contract for five more years like Crieghton does, if he did, I suspect he would not have resigned and simply continued his "burn out" performance.

Creighton, nevertheless, has totally impressed me with his portal work this season.
