How to use the degree theory to read your chart (2024)

The degree theory by Nikola Stojanovic - each degree is representative of the energy of a sign. Here are the signs and its representative degrees:

Aries: 1° 13° 25° Taurus: 2° 14° 26° Gemini: 3° 15° 27° Cancer: 4° 16° 28° Leo: 5° 17° 29° Virgo: 6° 18° Libra: 7° 19° Scorpio: 8° 20° Sagittarius: 9° 21° Capricorn: 10° 22° Aquarius: 11° 23° Pisces: 12° 24°

0 degree- the pure energy of the sign the planet or placement is in

29 degrees - the energy of that placement is rather rushed

(if you know the order of the zodiac signs, it's really easy to remember the degrees, just count the signs starting with Aries from 1-12 and again from 13-24 and again from 25-29).

How to use them:

When looking at a chart, the degree can give more information on the way a certain energy is being expressed or repressed in your chart (depending on the planet you're looking at). Here's some examples of how this can play out with each planet.

Your Ascendant - the degree of your ascendant shows how you tend to show up into the world. For example, if your ascendant is Sagittarius (wisdom) at 19° (connections, beauty), you might use your wisdom and adventurous personality in order to build connections and explore the beauty of the world.

The Sun - the degree your sun is at shows how you best express your personality, meaning which side of that zodiac sign is expressed in you. For example, if your sun is in Gemini (communicative) in the 4th house (home and family) at 6° (detail-oriented), this means that you are the type of Gemini that is really good at making the other person feel integrated in conversations through the fact that you are paying attention to each detail.

The Moon - the degree of your moon shows how you tend to deal with emotions and which area is emphasized from your moon sign. For instance, if you have your moon in Virgo at 11° of Aquarius, it's likely that you try to over analyze your emotions and have a tendency to detach from them, as both Virgo and Aquarius are highly rational signs. If your moon is in the 10th house, this means that you usually do this in regards to your career.

Your Mercury sign - the degree of your mercury shows how you communicate the energy of that sign. For example, if your Mercury is in Leo (confidence in communication) in the 9th house (of philosophy) at 11° (uniqueness), you are likely to be a natural at bringing strong arguments and new perspectives into conversations about your life philosophy.

Your Venus sign - the degree of your Venus shows how you best show and like to receive love or what you'll likely earn money from. For example, if your Venus is in Capricorn (hard work) in the 2nd house (worth) at 16° (warmth), you are likely to need a consistent type of love which nurtures your self worth. Also, you are likely to earn money through your own efforts and by using your nurturing and intuitive qualities.

Your Mars sign - the degree your Mars sign is at shows more about your motivation and what it's channeled on. For example, if you have Mars in Libra (networking) in the 6th house (routine, health) at 10° (career), you are likely to be highly motivated by building a career that's centered on selling nutritional plans to those you build connections to.

Your Jupiter sign - the degree of your Jupiter shows which things give you blessings, but also where you might overindulge. For example, of you have Jupiter in Virgo (blessings through order) in the 9th house (foreign cultures, travel) at 1° (impulsive, risk-taking), you are likely going to see blessings when you get your life in order without thinking about it too much and you just expand your consciousness through impulsive, but also well organized travel.

Your Saturn sign - the degree of your Saturn gives us more insights about the things you might have trouble with. If your Saturn is in Aries (trouble with assertiveness) in the 3rd house (assertiveness in communication) at 3° (Gemini degree), you are likely to have trouble when it comes to socializing and debating or building connections with others through using your voice.

Your Uranus sign - the degree your Uranus is at shows more about your uniqueness in relation to your upbringing. If you have Uranus in Aquarius in the 5th house (creativity) at 8° (intensity), you are likely to show your uniqueness through occultism and tarot, themes that were either popular around you in your upbringing or non-existent around you.

Your Neptune sign - the degree your Neptune is at shows more about where you might be having trouble concentrating, but also your dreams. If you have Neptune in Capricorn (unreachable goals) in the 12th house (spirituality) at 14° (value), you are likely to have trouble focusing on your spiritual goals, but still adding a lot of value to it and maybe even earning money from it.

Your Pluto sign - the degree of your Pluto tells us more about fears that were created due to external sources. If you have Pluto in the 1st house (appearance) at 5° (creative self expression), you are likely to have fears related to the way others perceive your creative self expression, due to some external sources that implemented these fears.

*This is just the way I understand and see the degree theory mentioned. Also, the examples are really random and just one way that you could interpret these placements.
