I think the biggest astrological thing Iâve learned about this past month is of the many different Ayanamshas in sidereal astrology.
For those that arenât aware of what Ayanamshas are, theyâre basically the multiple different calculations of where the sidereal zodiac starts; hereâs a link to a page about the subject on Astrodienst. Up until this past month, I genuinely havenât really given any other Ayanamsha much thought beyond Lahiri, because I figured that if it was common for sidereal astrologers to utilize that Ayanamsha, then it must be the best one to use, right? Iâm now choosing to be more intentional with making decisions of what settings I choose to use when calculating charts, rather than resorting to whatâs common.
As of this past month, Iâve been using the Galactic Center Ayanamsha by Rafael Gil Brand! Astrodienstâs explanation about Gil Brand's calculation in the link I provided previously is what drew me to using the Galactic Center. This is another link where Gil Brand explains his reasoning for the calculation titled "Conversion from tropical to sidereal", and I share screenshots of an English translation on my âLearning Journeyâ highlight on Instagram. Gil Brand's calculation is noted to be very similar to the Raman Ayanamsha (they're about 4 minutes apart), but I prefer to use Gil Brand's one because 1) I love the philosophy behind using the Galactic Center as a point of reference as explained in the Astrodienst link, 2) I'm fascinated by how Gil Brand's calculation places the Galactic Center at the axis of the astrological ruler system (it seems perfect to me), and 3) the fact that it's been making the charts I read make so much more sense to me!
When I took a look at how my own birth chart looks with the âGalactic (Gil Brand)â Ayanamsha, I noticed that it changed the signs of a couple planets for me (due to the fact that those planets were at 29 degrees with Lahiri). Now when I see the new signs theyâre in, it honestly makes a lot of things click for me đ. Iâm especially interested in what your thoughts are on the Gil Brand Galactic Center Ayanamsha, especially in regards to the philosophy behind it.

Iâve been raising funds for more equipment and services for my content creating endeavors & studies for Language of the Ether, especially for the Youtube channel.
